The Miscellany News website is produced using MovableType, developed by Six Apart. We have installed MT-DBSL by Brad Choate and Blacklistby Jay Allen in order to help protect the VSA server and the site's integrity. The site was built primarily using SubEthaEdit, though much of the Javascript was generated with Macromedia Dreamweaver. Graphics were built and prepared with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Imageready.
The primary typeface used is the Corpus Gothic family designed by Peter Bruhn for the Fountain type foundry. Secondary typefaces are intended to be Hoefler Text, designed by Jonathan Hoefler for Hoefler and Frere-Jones; and Lucida Grande/Sans, designed by Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes. Due to the nature of web typography, those users who do not have these typfaces installed will be presented with our site in different formatting.
This site makes use of the .png open source graphics format, which incorporates alpha transparency. As such, many of the graphics will render incorrectly in Microsoft Internet Explorer, which does not offer full support for the format. In an effort to make the site as accessible to Internet Explorer users as possible, we have installed Dean Edward's IE7 package of Javascripts.
We would like to thank Ken Bolton '98 and Matt Hackett '07 for their help in making this site possible.
