Sports Briefs | Prentiss Field construction halted for the baseball team to play at home

print this articleemail this articleskip to comments

As of April 1, the City of Poughkeepsie granted permission to stop renovations at Prentiss Field. Construction will resume after Vassar’s spring sport season finishes. The decision was made to postpone the renovations so that the baseball team would be able to play games on a home field instead of at Marist College or Dutchess County Stadium. Last season, the team was displaced in preparation for the construction to begin.

Although baseball will be playing games on their field, there is no electricity and the bleachers, press box, bathrooms and storage facilities will not be used. Additionally, the lacrosse teams will only be permitted to play on the turf field if there is a last-minute weather complication.
