Last Friday, March 28, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) officially announced its decision to not continue its discussion to split Division III. In the original proposal by the Working Group on Membership Issues, the NCAA was considering creating a fourth division to relieve the stresses arising in Division III due to its rapid growth. However, preliminary results from a membership survey showed that there was a very loud voice to keep the division together.
These results have convinced the NCAA to abandon their proposal. The official results from the survey will be published by the NCAA on April 9.
