The Vassar women’s and men’s fencing teams had an outstanding meet last weekend, at the Wellesley Invitational on Feb. 9. Both teams went undefeated in their six rounds of play.

For the women’s team, foilist Jackie Korey ’11, had a particularly notable day, not doing a single game. Fellow freshmen Julie Carlsen in sabre, and Sophie Courser in épée, also came up big for the Brewers, losing only two and three matches respectively.

The men fared equally well, going 5-0 at the invitational. Mike D’Urso ’11 in foil, Andrew Fischl ’11 in sabre, Paul Brehm ’08 in épée, and Conor Kennedy ’11 in foil, all had standout preformances at the meet.

With these victories, the men currently stand at 16-6, while the women’srecord is 16-10 for the season. Both teams will travel this upcoming weekend the New England Conference Championships on Sunday, Feb. 17.
