Thank you for the terrific Mind the Gap day on Feb. 7. Whether you volunteered to adopt an alumnae/i for the morning, wrote a thank-you note at the table in the Campus Center, or just smiled at one of us in your class, your action mattered.
I give to Vassar because a) my parents told me to, b) I want to have a connection to the community, and c) I think Vassar deserves to see that alumnae/i value their experiences.
I haven’t been back to campus much. Even though I was a drama major, I’m not very social, so I’m not fond of reunions. Mind the Gap day was much more laid back than a reunion. It was really nice to talk to a student (thank you, Julia!) and attend her class. Later in the afternoon, talking to Senior Lecturer Bill Miller and Drama Lecturer and Costume Designer Holly Hummel, I was elated that they value the old drama war stories as much as I do.
Thanks to your efforts yesterday, I feel that we are all connected beyond how much we give or what kind of alumnae/i events we like. I hope that you find ways to stay connected after you leave and that you throw some change at the annual fund. Maybe I’ll meet you when you’re an alum at the Mind the Gap refreshment table in a few years.
