Women's rugby team qualifies for nationals
Although the women’s rugby team’s 27-35 loss to Brown University this past Sunday deprived them of a Northeast Rugby Union title, the Brewers still received a bid for the national tournament this spring.
After a strong 30-5 quarterfinal victory over Army, the women advanced to the championship game against Brown. A tough opponent, Vassar stayed close, trailing by only five points late in the game, but unable to take the lead.
The Brewers had strong performances all weekend, especially from Championship MVP. Danielle Goodman-Levy ’09 who had two scores against Brown and another two against Army.

Fencing teams find success in home opener
Vassar’s men’s and women’s fencing teams began their home seasons this past Sunday, Nov. 11 when they hosted the VC Invitational. Competing against Yeshiva University, Marist College, Sacred Heart University and Rutgers University, the men’s team had decisive wins in all their matches. The women were successful as well, only narrowly falling to Sacred Heart.
With a whole season still to come, “these early wins will give the men’s and women’s fencing teams some confidence in their abilities and enthusiam to work hard together to face the tough teams ahead,” said the teams’ Head Coach Brad Gillman.
