Water main break leads to unbathed and unhappy students
At 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, a Security guard patrolling Davison House reported significant flooding in the basement. It was soon discovered that a major water main had burst between Josselyn House and Jewett House, affecting the water supply for the central part of campus until 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. Residents were advised not to drink tap water during that time until any sand or silt could be flushed from the water supply lines. The Josselyn basement had mild property damage due to flooding; the All College Dining Center was also affected. The Arlington Fire Department pumped the water pipe onto Joss Beach in order to clean it. Contractors repaired the pipe by Friday afternoon, and drinkable water was restored to residents.
