FRIDAY, 10/27
3 p.m. Tea. Did you hear about Barack Obama? Rose Parlor

6 p.m. Lecture. Betty Bright, author of No Longer Innocent: the Book Arts in America, 1960-1980. Just as a side note, I want to let you know that we live in a day and age when a guy can ejaculate all over a library book and get into an art show. So if something says “mixed medium,” just be aware. FLLAC

6 p.m. Sober Events Series. Vegan food and Transamerica. That kid from Air Bud grew up real well. Blegen House

SATURDAY, 10/28
3 p.m. Experiencing Magic: The Gathering. The kid whose bar mitzvah was the same day as my bat mitzvah gave out t-shirts at his party that said “I had a MAGICAL time at Steven’s Bar Mitzvah” with “MAGICAL” written in the “Magic: The Gathering” font. That said, he was 13; you’re not, get over it. Cushing, West Parlor

3 p.m. Economists Panel Discussion. “Higher Education Affordability and Access.” Well, the Metro North makes us pretty accessible. CDF, Martel Theater

SUNDAY, 10/29
2 a.m. Daylight Savings Time. Re-gain an hour of your life. What to do with the hour? I don’t know, take a really good dump, or perhaps update your Facebook profile. Everywhere that’s normal
1 p.m. Inaugural Ceremony. In which Cappy officially becomes President of the College. So, like, what has she been doing for the past couple months? Just chillin’ and drinkin’ Cappy Juice spiked with Absolut? Whatevs. Outdoor Amphitheater

MONDAY, 10/30
3 p.m. Tea. He said he might possibly consider running in 2008. Rose Parlor

7 p.m. Lecture. “Democracy Matters in the Age of Globalization” by Jay Mandle, Economics Professor at Colgate University. Well, Mr. Mandle, you’ve got the key words down pretty well. Can’t you just sneak “Race” and “Gender” in there too? Rocky 200

8 p.m. Reading. Jayne Anne Phillips will read from her new novel. Please God let her book be called The Devil Wears Gucci. Sanders Hall, 212

TUESDAY, 10/31, Halloween
3 p.m. Tea. Like he’s not sure, but he’ll maybe think about it. Rose Parlor

3:30 p.m. Halloween Party. For children under 10. How come they get it on the right day? What is this, once you’re over 10 you don’t have a sense of calendar anymore? Quick, somebody call the Calendar Committee. Aula

9 p.m. Halloween/Scary Rock Concert. They won’t let you in unless you go as a hipster. CC 223
10 p.m. ViCE Jazz. Skeleton Breath. They won’t let you in unless you go as a hippie. The Mug

WEDNESDAY, 11/1
10 a.m. Benefits Fair. Find out if your benefits are fair. Common benefits include free beer and pizza. Villard Room

3 p.m. Tea. Everyone is flipping out. Rose Parlor

5:30 p.m. Lecture. Leslie Pierce of NYU will speak on “Unequal Justice? Gender, Islamic Law, and the Courts in the Premodern Ottoman Empire.” Wow, that’s my senior thesis. Sanders Hall, 212

8 p.m. Asprey Lecture in Mathematics. Jon Kleinberg, Cornell University. “Modeling the Web, Mining my E-Mail, and Other Perspectives on the Information Revolution.” I wonder if he’s on MySpace. Rocky 300

THURSDAY, 11/2
1:30 p.m. Lecture. “The Politics of Consumption: Soft Drink Perspectives.” Robert J. Foster, Professor of Anthropology at University of Rochester. I bet he’s only coming here because we have both Coke and Pepsi. Don’t you wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi at Express Lunch though? That’s always bothered me. Blodgett 201

3 p.m. Tea. He should run with John Edwards on the “Cute Ticket.” Rose Parlor
