As part of the breast cancer awareness event “Testify: Struggle and Survival,” Vassar alumna Kellee White ’01 will give the keynote address for a discussion which will include a poetry reading and testimonials from breast cancer survivors. The free public event will address prevention and causes of breast cancer.
This event is part of the Mid Hudson Valley Chapter’s fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend. It is sponsored by Vassar’s ALANA Center, Offices of Health Education and Services, the Black Student Union, as well as the Sisters Network. Sisters Network, the first national African-American breast cancer survivors’ group, was founded in 1994 by Karen Jackson. The group now counts 3,000 members and 45 chapters globally.
Poet Pamela DeLeon-Lewis will read and sign copies of her book Smiling Thru the Tears: A Breast Cancer Survivor Odyssey at the event on Saturday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in the College Center MPR.

Fran might not be overseeing these matches, but that’s no reason not to flex your lexicon and play Boggle in the Gold Parlor this Saturday. You won't just play Boggle, mind you—you’ll compete in a tournament to see which wordmonger is really carrying on the legacy of Allan Turoff, the game’s storied inventor and former rally car driver/enthusiast. To find out which textbook history event inspired the invention and sale of the game, and what use “Body Boggle” has outside the swinger party circle (maybe that should just be “why it was ever invented at all...”), head to the Gold Parlor in Main Building from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.
