Campus drinking a continued problem for Security

From April 11 to April 18, Campus Security responded to 34 incident reports, most of which involved the misuse of alcohol. According to Associate Security Director Kim Squillace, while that number may have been the largest in the school’s history, few of the reports were of unregistered parties. Instead, a majority of the incidents reported were of underage drinking in the dorms.

On April 14, at 11:22 p.m., a Security officer encountered an underage student drinking a beer in the fifth floor hallway of Main Building. Soon after, Security witnessed six students, all underage, openly drinking alcohol on the third floor.

On April 16, at 12:35 a.m., an officer walking from Josselyn House approached a number of students leaving Davison House with open beer cans. The students were asked to show identification and were all found to be of legal age. However, one student strongly resisted the officer’s request and became aggressive. After making several disparaging remarks, the student shoved the officer.
