On Feb. 12, 1985, students staged a “die-in” to protest the presence of a marine recruiter in the College Center. Several students laid on the ground in front of the recruiter’s table while others traced their bodies with masking tape.
Protesters also played loud music and attempted to initiate discussion with passersby. The protest was mostly peaceful, although one of the organizers found his window pelted with eggs and tomatoes the next day. However, The Miscellany News suggested that the events were unrelated.
