Home stretch, here we come. The action is fast and furious as the run for the last shirts of 2005 draws to a close. Who wants to wear a brand new championship t-shirt home at the semester’s end?
I don’t know if they will or won’t be wearing one, but I can tell you for certain that the Real International All-Stars FC (not the phony baloney Pretend International stars) want those shirts badly. So did their counterparts in Monday’s Comp indoor soccer semi-final, the Sexy Seamonkeys.

All of this desire resulted in an IM contest for the ages as the FC gang prevailed, 4-3 in overtime. The Seamonkeys and FC went back and forth. Avery “Good Player” Green-Spector ’07 scored twice for the Seamonkeys and it looked like they would advance, but Carlos “The Jeans Are the Key” Sawyerr-Ibriga ’07 and Kofi “Wakes Me Up” Effah ’06 scored early for FC. However, down late, it was Amandeep “Water Drowns Seamonkeys” Kalsi ’06, who somehow snuck one past Dan “Open” Zabar ’06 to tie the contest. After a scoreless overtime period, Francesco “Golden Goal” Galetto ’06 connected to score the winner for the All-Stars—truly a game no one deserved to lose. Not that team APGS deserved to lose the second semi, which they did 6-2 at the hands of The Rookies.

Over on the Rec soccer courts, The Missing Links advanced, as they usually do, to the finals, with a 3-1 win over the Flaming Cowboy Boots. The Links were led by Shaina “Can’t Contain Her” Brassard ’08. The Links will vie with Team Balls who advanced by virtue of a 4-3 overtime thriller over Team Gay Sex. Balls were led by Mac “The Knife” Marshall ’06 and Oscar “He May be a Grouch but he’s No Slouch” Prado ’06.
Turn them over, Rec volleyball is done. Team Carly’s Illegitimate Bastard Child rules the roost in the Rec League, after a 25-16, 14-25, 25-23 win over Team Balls. Shoutout and congrats to Team Carly’s Illegitimate Bastard Child: Alex “Don’t Abort” Tanskey ’08, Carly “Big Mama” Dahl ’07, Charlie “Spikarama” Smith ’07, Dan Schwartz ’07, Dave “Wallop ‘Em” Waymouth ’07, Jason “Don’t Go Swimming” Lipeles ’08, Jonathon “Bang those Volleyballs” Bannigan ’09, “Jumping” Julia Hirsch, Katie “Flooded” Brooks ’08, Malissa “Big O” O’Donnell ’06, Michaela” Row the Boat Ashore” Soldano ’06, Ryan “Fry ‘Em” Meltzer ’07 and Tino “Mr. Hustle” Lim ’07.

The Comp volleyball bragging rights belong to the LI Lizards who squashed the dreams of Team Non-Discriminatory Sex 25-16, 14-25, 25-23—truly yet another IM Classic contest. Kudos to Eric “The Red” Scrager ’08, Luke “Skywalker” Farrell ’07, Ross “The Boss” MacKenzie ’09, Steven “Take One” Cataldo ’07, Vito “Double Take” Cataldo ’07, Kevin “In The” Hunt, and Steve “The Monster Mouch” Micucci ’09.

Lastly, we are down to four teams in 3v3 basketball. In Rec World, the last two standing are WKYA and Team Bolognious. The former advanced by defeating Sam Lindy’s Sister is Really Hot, while the latter took out Superfly. I’ve got WKYA beating Bolognious in my IM playoff bracket. I took them because Hugo “Huge” Van Dyke ’06 is an enforcer in the paint. But, then again, “Welcome” Matt Cornelius ’07 can cover just about anyone.

In Comp b-ball,Trey Land downed Old School and We Remember Ricky Pierce upset PHGTWH to set up what should be another classic final. It’ll come down to Campus Dining’s Prescott “Mr. Hoop” Saunders’ outside game versus Pete “We’ll Repeat in the Spring” Malinowlski’s ’06 post game, and maybe his prayers, if Big Prescott heats up. We’ll see. And speaking of prayers—Happy Holidays to you and yours, see you in 2006…and don’t give up any uncontested threes.
