Poughkeepsie election results

In the election of last Tuesday, Nov. 8. Patricia Meyers (D) was elected town supervisor, defeating the two-term incumbent Joseph E. Davis. “I think the people are ready to see the town move forward,” said Myers, quoted in The Poughkeepsie Journal. The town council will be entirely composed of Republicans, according to unofficial election results published early Wednesday. Susan Miller (R) was elected Town Clerk. John E. Still (R), who died last week of a heart attack, was elected Highway Superintendent. Still had served at that post for the past 16 years. The town council will appoint someone to carry out his term until the election in November of 2006. —John Palmer, Senior Editor

Fake identification card taken at Mug

On Nov. 4 at 12:15 a.m., the Mug officer on duty reported that a student was attempting to enter the Mug and obtain an over-21 bracelet with a fraudulent ID. The student was denied entry and the card was confiscated. —Ariel Schwartz, Assistant News Editor

Group found taking nude pictures

Security received a call on Nov. 5 at 12:30 p.m. that there was a group of nude people taking pictures on east tower of the ampitheatre near Sunset Lake. The group told security that they were taking pictures as part of a photo shoot for Squirm magazine. Security asked them to to stop. —A.S.

Student in Mug taken to hospital

A student reported on Nov. 5 at 2:56 a.m. that someone was not feeling well in the men’s bathroom at the Mug. Security reponded and found a student wedged between the wall and a toilet. EMS requested the Arlington Fire Department to help extricate the student out of the bathroom. The student was taken to the hospital. —A.S.
