This year’s Halloween party was the first that students had the opportunity to buy tickets before the event in an effort to track attendance and facilitate admission. Six hundred presale tickets were sold, according to Associate Director of Security Kim Squillace. Halloween parties held in previous years were troubled with fire code violations and needed to be shut down early.

At 12:12 a.m. security received a report about a fight in the second floor multipurpose room of the College Center. Security arrived at the scene and found a victim lying on the floor. Vassar EMS, Arlington Ambulance and Town of Poughkeepsie Police also responded. One student was taken to the hospital as a result of the fight. Another student was taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.
