Michael Chabon, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, visited the second floor of the Students’ Building on Feb. 1 as part of the Alex Krieger ’95 Memorial Lecture Series. The room was packed with students, faculty, and guests as Chabon gave a talk concerning the problems that confronted him as an aspiring novelist in the mid to late 1980s. Chabon comically expressed his anxieties and hopes as a struggling author. “To me, writing is all about preparing your mind...so that you’re always ready...when chance throws you what you need,” he said. He recently released a novella in November 2004 titled The Fourth Estate. He is also author of Wonderboys, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, Werewolves in Our Youth, and Summerland.
