Wesleyan University students stage sit-in

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, students at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut barricaded President Doug Bennett in his office as a means of formal protest. The protest lasted for approximately five hours.

Students engage in tsunami relief efforts

A major earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused a tsunami wave to crash down on islands in Southeast Asia, claiming approximately 225,000 lives on Dec. 26. Several Vassar students were in the disaster area at the time, and have since returned to campus.

Vassar mastodon bones at SUNY face uncertain future

Vassar College, 1986: A pink slip of paper rested on a table on the New England Buildings third floor. It instructed the janitor to promptly dismantle the nine foot tall and 20 foot long mastodon skeleton that had resided at Vassar for 83 years and throw it in the garbage.

Students travel to D.C. for Inauguration protest

Thirty-four Vassar students travelled to Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Jan. 20 to join the thousands of protestors marching through the capital’s streets for the presidential inauguration.

Students had the opportunity to demonstrate on Pennsylvania Avenue and 4th. For the first time in presidential history, protestors received a permit to gather at a point on the inaugural parade route.
